Glory Johnson and Brittney Griner got married last Friday at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort in Phoenix, Arizona, just one month after their domestic violence incident and subsequent arrests.
I guess Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson have taken a page out of Ray and Janay Rice’s handbook. A little less than a month after they both were arrested on domestic violence-related charges at their home in Phoenix, the two get married in a ceremony at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort.
Johnson posted a wedding photo on Instagram, and People magazine snapped photographs and covered the event online.
Griner entered into a diversion agreement in municipal court, and all charges will be dismissed if she completes 26 weeks of domestic violence counseling. You can read more about the domestic violence incident HERE.
In a statement, Griner said, “It is never OK for an argument to turn physical. This will never happen again, and I take my relationship and my responsibility as a role model seriously. I am committed to making positive changes and I plan to use what I have learned to set a good example and help make a difference in the world around me.”
Brittney Griner plays for the WNBA’s defending champion Phoenix Mercury, while Glory Johnson plays for the Tulsa Shock.
Congratulations are in order to the couple. Hopefully these two can get over whatever issue or issues that sparked them to lose control and get physical less than a month ago and make it work. They will be one of, if not the main story line coming into this WNBA season, which gets underway Friday, June 5th, with preseason games preceding and starting Friday, May 22nd.
